East London: Analytical Chemist (Automotive)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our team in East London, responsible for providing critical chemical analytical support to our automotive clients. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that requires flexibility and adaptability to meet customer demands effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate lab resources to ensure customer demands are met effectively and efficiently.
• Conduct chemical analysis: Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to determine the composition and behaviour of materials.
• Operate and maintain equipment: Utilize a wide range of specialized laboratory instruments and software to collect and analyse data.
• Method development and validation
• Data analysis and reporting
• Quality control and compliance
• Provide an accurate and timeous chemical analytical service to support failure analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement measures.
• Support plant with chemical technical expertise.
• Analyse data obtained through regular checks to support quality demands of the business and prevent non-conformance of product and processes.
• Record keeping of test results to ensure compliance to client archiving requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in area of responsibility according to good laboratory practices and quality management system in order to maintain laboratory accreditation.
• Participate in evaluation and approval of hazardous chemicals proposed for usage at client
• Conduct ISIR material evaluation of localised parts and support local suppliers with technical expertise linked to the ISIR part approval process.
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrity and Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy and S.H.E.Q requirements.

Requirements

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

Qualifications

• Minimum NQF 7 Bachelor of Science (BSC) or relevant equivalent.
