About the Role
Our client in the automotive industry is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring quality control requirements are met in a laboratory environment, providing specialist chemical technical expertise, and supporting plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination of Lab resources to ensure customer demands are met effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct chemical analysis: Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to determine the composition and behaviour of materials.
- Operate and maintain equipment: Utilize a wide range of specialized laboratory instruments and software to collect and analyse data.
- Method Development and Validation
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Quality Control and Compliance
- Provide an accurate and timeous chemical analytical service to support failure analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement measures.
- Support plant with chemical technical expertise.
- Analyse data obtained through regular checks to support quality demands of the business and prevent non-conformance of product and processes.
- Record keeping of test results to ensure compliance to the company archiving requirements.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in area of responsibility according to good laboratory practices and Quality Management System to maintain laboratory accreditation.
- Participate in evaluation and approval of hazardous chemicals proposed for usage
- ISIR material evaluation of localised parts and support local suppliers with technical expertise linked to the ISIR part approval process.
- Responsible for continuous improvement within area of responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E.Q requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum NQF 7
- Bachelor of Science (BSC) or relevant equivalent
- 3-5 years analytical chemistry experience or relevant experience
