About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in Pretoria. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving engineering excellence, overseeing product design, and ensuring that all solutions meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full accountability for all design and engineering activities
- Oversee the integrity and validation of equipment designs and components
- Lead product development initiatives, including new designs and enhancements to existing offerings
- Review and approve production drawings and ensure alignment with manufacturing standards
- Prepare and contribute to technical tenders and proposals
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders, including conducting on-site technical visits
- Compile accurate bills of material and product specifications
- Manage project timelines and progress using structured planning tools
- Provide mentorship, direction, and support to the engineering team
- Drive ongoing improvements in design processes, systems, and product performance
Requirements
- BSc Mechanical Engineering or higher qualification
- 10+ years experience in a design engineering environment within the manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry
- Proven experience working with Ansys for FEA analysis
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of structural and component analysis
- Well-developed organisational and project management abilities
- Advanced Excel and overall Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities
