About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the eRegister application using COBOL programming language. This role requires a strong technical background in COBOL development, Mainframe disciplines, and database management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain eRegister application using the COBOL programming language.
• Create, modify, and test the code and scripts that allow eRegister to run.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues to prevent downtime.
• Conduct periodical data backups and ensure that backups are adequately secured.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Annual Performance Plan, Annual Operational Plan, and Departmental ICT strategy.
• Coordinate organization maintenance and support associated with the in-house developed application and associated matters.
• Perform data analysis specific to information that impacts on the in-house developed application.
• Coordinate the preparation and other associated activities for the cleansing, preparation, and migration of the data on the Nurse Register to any other application which the company may implement – SQL target database.
• Develop and review policies, standard operating procedures, frameworks, internal controls, and systems within area of specialization.
• Ensure systems documentation is generated and kept up to date.
• Implement approved changes as per change control processes.
• Maintain and support existing applications.
• Manage risk for the areas of responsibility within the company.
• Investigate and resolve complex systems issues across the application.
• Participate in database design activities.
• Manage, control/drive or participate in ad hoc projects that arise from time to time.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as delegated by the line manager/supervisor including asset management responsibilities on an interim basis.
• Perform periodical reporting in line with company’s reporting schedule.

Minimum Requirements and Added Advantage Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in COBOL development.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Mainframe disciplines (AS400 & IBM I-Series/5).
• Experience with Inter-form/400 advantageous.
• Experience with Mocha Soft Screen Emulator and Printer Emulator advantageous.
• Experience with payment engines advantageous.
• 5 years of experience in SQL and DB2/400.
• Experience of development of interfaces with other systems.
• Data cleansing and migration from COBOL to SQL.
• Database optimization experience.
