We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering modern data, AI, and cloud platforms for banking and financial services clients. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement resilient, scalable data architectures that power advanced analytics, insights, and enterprise-grade AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across Azure and AWS environments.
- Develop data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, and Databricks.
- Work with AWS services including Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, EMR, and Athena.
- Design and manage robust ETL/ELT frameworks to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple on-premise and cloud sources.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable production-grade data solutions.
- Optimise pipeline performance, data models, and queries for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement data quality frameworks, testing, monitoring, and alerting to ensure reliable data pipelines.
- Apply strong security, governance, and compliance controls aligned with financial services and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably with exposure to banking or financial services environments.
- Hands-on experience across Azure and AWS data platforms.
- Strong programming and querying skills in:
- SQL
- Python
- Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala)
- Practical experience with technologies such as:
- Azure Data Factory
- Synapse Analytics
- Databricks
- Azure Data Lake
- AWS Glue
- Redshift
- EMR
- Athena
- S3
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD practices for data platforms (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline).
- Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Data Analytics are advantageous.
