About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Distribution and Fleet Manager to join our team in Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all outbound distribution operations, optimizing fleet utilization, and driving efficiency to reduce operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all outbound distribution to ensure accurate, on-time delivery to customers
  • Optimize routing and fleet utilisation to drive efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Lead daily dispatch operations, including vehicle checks, loading accuracy, and cold-chain compliance
  • Supervise and manage drivers and offloading staff, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism
  • Monitor driver behaviour and performance using tracking systems, promoting a strong safety culture
  • Manage fleet maintenance, servicing, licensing, and full regulatory compliance
  • Oversee fuel usage, including diesel procurement, reconciliations, and consumption tracking
  • Prepare and present operational and cost reports to management
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across distribution and fleet operations

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a high-volume FMCG environment
  • Proven track record in distribution, transport, or fleet management (experience in food production or cold-chain environments advantageous)
  • Experience managing drivers and operational teams
  • Strong understanding of cold-chain logistics and transport regulations
  • Experience working with fleet tracking systems
  • Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related systems
