About the Role

The National Nuclear Regulator is seeking an experienced Electrical Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join our team as a senior analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth reviews and assessments of technical submissions, providing input into the development of regulatory standards and practices, and representing the organisation in meetings with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct assessments as assigned based on an in-depth understanding of established legal, regulatory and organisational documents, processes and guides.
Handle both simple and complex systems assessments.
Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides.
Participate in national and international forums.
Represent organisation in meetings with external stakeholders.
Create input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides.
Perform audits and inspections.
Mentoring of interns.

Requirements

NQF level 7 in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years regulatory or industry experience.
Understanding of the relevant legislation governing the nuclear regulation industry in South Africa.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to:
Nuclear reactor instrumentation, controls and sensors and their integration into the design and operation of reactor systems.
Relevant engineering/science codes and standards (ASME, SANS, SABS, RCCM etc.).
Interpretation of modern instrumentation and control standards in nuclear industry.
Configuration management and engineering change control.
Experience in safety classifications.
Knowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C system platforms.
