About the Role
The National Nuclear Regulator is seeking an experienced Electrical Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join our team as a senior analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth reviews and assessments of technical submissions, providing input into the development of regulatory standards and practices, and representing the organisation in meetings with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments as assigned based on an in-depth understanding of established legal, regulatory and organisational documents, processes and guides.
- Handle both simple and complex systems assessments.
- Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides.
- Participate in national and international forums.
- Represent organisation in meetings with external stakeholders.
- Create input into the development of regulatory standards, practices and guides.
- Perform audits and inspections.
- Mentoring of interns.
Requirements
- NQF level 7 in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years regulatory or industry experience.
- Understanding of the relevant legislation governing the nuclear regulation industry in South Africa.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to:
- Nuclear reactor instrumentation, controls and sensors and their integration into the design and operation of reactor systems.
- Relevant engineering/science codes and standards (ASME, SANS, SABS, RCCM etc.).
- Interpretation of modern instrumentation and control standards in nuclear industry.
- Configuration management and engineering change control.
- Experience in safety classifications.
- Knowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C system platforms.
