About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention Control Specialist to join our team at Sotina Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing IPC policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain IPC policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Conduct surveillance of hospital-acquired infections and report findings.
- Lead outbreak investigations and implement corrective measures (e.g., isolation precautions).
- Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, PPE usage, sterilization, and waste management protocols.
- Conduct ward rounds to assess patient safety and environmental hygiene.
- Align IPC programmes with hospital SHERQ action plan and roadmap.
- Support Hospital Manager in annual reviews of National Core Standards.
- Prepare monthly IPC reports and present findings at Group forums.
- Maintain updated risk register with infection-related risks and mitigation actions.
- Liaise with HR to coordinate IPC training plans for staff.
- Facilitate workshops on infection control, occupational health, and incident response.
- Ensure accurate reporting of incidents (e.g., needle-stick injuries, exposure to body fluids).
- Collaborate with Unit Managers and third-party service providers (waste, catering, laundry, cleaning, pest control) to ensure IPC compliance.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing
- Postgraduate qualification or certificate in Infection Prevention and Control (advantageous)
- Risk Management Certificate (preferred)
- Current BLS accreditation (Instructor accreditation advantageous)
