About the Role
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our 5-star boutique hotel and spa in Plettenberg Bay. As a hands-on, people-focused leader, you will drive operational excellence while nurturing a strong team culture and delivering a refined, personalised guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Hotel Operations Management
- Oversee all departments and daily hotel operations
- Ensure seamless coordination across FOH, F&B, Housekeeping, Spa, and Maintenance
- Maintain consistent 5-star service delivery across all guest touchpoints
- Financial Management
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Drive cost control and operational efficiency
- Ensure financial targets and performance metrics are met
- HR & Leadership
- Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and staff development
- Build and maintain a motivated, high-performing team culture
- Ensure compliance with HR legislation and best practices
- Guest & Stakeholder Relations
- Host VIP guests, agents, media, and key stakeholders
- Build strong relationships with guests, staff, suppliers, and community partners
- Drive guest satisfaction and continuous service improvement
- Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards
- Maintain hotel assets and operational equipment
- Uphold company values, culture, and brand standards
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a General Manager or senior hotel management role in luxury boutique hospitality
- Hospitality or tourism qualification
- Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, cost control)
- Proven leadership and team development ability
- Strong HR knowledge and practical application
- Experience hosting VIP guests and industry stakeholders
- Understanding of sustainability in hospitality
- Computer literate with strong administrative skills
- Valid PrDP
