Cape Town City Centre: Production Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Production Technician to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our extrusion equipment and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform efficient and correct production line set-ups and changeovers
  • Execute tool changes and machine configurations across all extrusion equipment
  • Ensure procedures are performed correctly and effectively by all extrusion staff
  • Optimize utilization of machines and manufacturing processes to achieve best possible performance, availability, and scrap percentages (OEE)
  • Set up feeders, drillers, coilers, and train supervisors on fine adjustments
  • Input order and parameter specifications into MES in the factory
  • Assist with planning and scheduling of production orders
  • Breakdowns and technical repairs of lines, ensuring equipment is in good working order
  • Maintenance and lean projects and installations
  • Line wear parts replacement stock keeping and replenishment (e.g. rollers, tools, rings, etc.)

Requirements

  • Matric certificate
  • Red seal certificate
  • Millwright / Electrical education
  • 5 years in a similar role / manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of production processes and mechanical systems
  • ERP system experience
  • Practical, hands-on ability
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent numeracy skills and computer literacy
  • Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans
  • Ability to work independently
  • Drivers license
