About the Role
The Sports Coordinator role at South Cape Recruitment is a critical position that requires a highly organized and passionate individual to manage and coordinate various sports programs, events, and activities for our school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sports programme aligned with the school calendar.
- Coordinate seasonal sports codes (e.g. athletics, rugby, netball, soccer, cricket, hockey, swimming, etc.)
- Ensure inclusivity across all age groups and ability levels.
- Arrange inter-school fixtures, leagues, and tournaments.
- Organize internal sports events (sports days, inter-house competitions, fun days).
- Liaise with other schools, sports buddies, and associations.
- Appoint, manage, and support coaches (internal staff and external coaches).
- Ensure coaching and standards are maintained.
- Provide guidance, training opportunities, and performance feedback.
- Encourage participation and identify talented athletes.
- Support high-performance and athletes with pathways and exposure opportunities.
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
- Manage and schedules, timetables, and venue bookings.
- Oversee transport arrangements for fixtures.
- Maintain accurate record of teams, results, and attendance.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and safety regulations.
- Oversee maintenance and use of sports facilities.
- Manage procurement, storage, and inventory of sports equipment.
- Ensure facilities meet safety standards.
- Prepare and manage the sports budget.
- Monitor expenditure and control cost.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives where necessary.
- Communicate schedules, results, and update to parents, learners, and staff.
- Promote sports activities via newsletters, social media, and platforms.
- Build relationships with parents and the wider school community.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and risk management procedures.
- Oversee first aid readiness during sports activities.
- Ensures compliance with relevant South African school sports regulations and bodies.
Requirements
Relevant qualifications in Sports Management, Physical Education, or similar
Teaching qualification (advantageous, especially in schools where coaching is linked to teaching)
Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Fully computer literate – MS Office Suite
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle

Experience
3-5 years’ experience in sports coordination or coaching
Experience working in a school environment (preferred)

- Passion for youth development and sport
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Knowledge of school sports structures in South Africa
