Atlantis: Junior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Junior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Officer to support our client in maintaining safety, hygiene, and audit requirements aligned with industry standards in their high-output manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement OHS management systems in line with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and investigate incidents using root cause analysis.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of the Safety File and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate mandatory safety training including first aid, fire fighting, and evacuation procedures.
  • Chair Safety Committee meetings and track action items.
  • Monitor the validity of statutory certificates and equipment registers.
  • Work with Quality and Operations teams to align safety with HACCP and GMP standards.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate).
  • SAMTRAC or NEBOSH International General Certificate.
  • 13 years of experience in a similar OHS role.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and General Machinery Regulations (GMR).
  • Experience within FMCG or manufacturing environments.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Valid drivers licence and own reliable transport.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or Safety Management (advantageous).
  • Professional registration with a recognised body such as SAIOSH (advantageous).
