About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy retail and trade yard in Somerset West, Cape Town. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving sales, managing a diverse team, optimizing inventory, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Yard Management: Oversee daily branch operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment for customers.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, motivate, and manage yard staff, sales consultants, and drivers. Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster a collaborative, high-energy work culture.
- Sales & Customer Service: Drive the branch to meet and exceed monthly and annual sales and profitability targets. Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade clients, contractors, and landscapers.
- Stock & Financial Control: Manage stock levels, minimize shrinkage, and oversee regular stock takes. Ensure accurate product ordering to balance demand with yard capacity.
Requirements
- Experience: 35 years of experience in retail, wholesale, or branch management
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing and motivating a hands-on operations and sales team
- Skills: Strong commercial acumen with a knack for driving sales and negotiating with contractors. Experience with inventory management software, stock control, and basic logistics.
- Attributes: High energy, physically resilient (comfortable working in an outdoor yard environment), and an excellent problem-solver.
