About the Role

The Field Salesperson will be responsible for promoting and selling products and services in the Cape Town City Centre, meeting sales targets and building a sales pipeline through effective communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet sales targets as specified by branch/regional sales manager
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information on selling strategies or marketing information
  • Expand the full product and service offering to current customers
  • Conduct market research to identify selling possibilities and evaluate customer needs
  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, and social media
  • Set up meetings with potential clients and listen to their wishes and concerns
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations and quotations on products and services
  • Create frequent reviews, visit, and sales reports with sales and financial data
  • Update the CRM system on a daily basis
  • Participate on behalf of the company in exhibitions or conferences
  • Negotiate/close deals and handle complaints or objections
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve better results
  • Gather feedback from customers or prospects and share with inside sales team

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent of National certificate NQF Level 5
  • Strong technical background and product knowledge in bearings, seals, power transmission (belts, chain, gearboxes), electrical motors, fasteners
  • At least 3 to 5 years proven industry-related sales experience
  • Basic metrology skills (use of a venier-calliper, reading of technical drawing, basic measurement of components)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle ownership
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, ratios, and percentages) for drawing up quotations
  • Computer skills to optimize processes within the unit
  • Experience on Sage or similar ERP system is an advantage
  • Previous experience with CRM will be an advantage
