About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join our fine dining restaurant in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our culinary brigade, you will be responsible for leading kitchen operations, menu creation, staff management, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. With a strong focus on culinary excellence and exceptional customer service, we are looking for a leader who can drive innovation, creativity, and consistency in all aspects of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Creation and Development: Design, plan, and update the menu to reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends while maintaining our restaurant’s signature style and standards.
  • Kitchen Management: Lead, manage, and train a team of chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring all roles are performed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Food Quality Control: Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented according to our restaurant’s standards and quality expectations.
  • Cost Control and Inventory Management: Oversee ordering, stock management, and inventory control to ensure efficient use of resources and maintain food cost control within budget.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Staff Training and Development: Mentor and train junior chefs, ensuring they are up-to-date with techniques, safety procedures, and service standards.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless coordination and create a memorable dining experience for guests.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that the food is of the highest quality, and take responsibility for resolving any culinary-related customer feedback in a positive and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Extensive Fine Dining Experience: Experience in a fine dining environment with a proven track record in high-level culinary roles.
  • Culinary Qualifications: Professional culinary training from a recognized institution.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage kitchen staff, and maintain a positive working environment under pressure.
