About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing daily accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of information processes and reported
  • Reconcile bank accounts, ledger accounts, and intercompany balances
  • Review and approval of supplier reconciliations
  • Coordinate cash drawdowns requests and report cash flows to internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate timely payments to suppliers
  • Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
  • Prepare reports and supporting schedules for external and internal audits
  • Supervise junior accounting staff and provide guidance and training as needed
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Manage fixed assets register and depreciation calculations
  • Assist in implementing financial controls and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • B.Com/B.Com(Hons)/CA with 5 years experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations (IFRS or IFRS for SMEs)
  • Intermediate Excel skills and knowledge of an ERP

About the Role

The Senior Financial Accountant role is a critical position in our company’s finance department, responsible for handling the accounting function for a group of companies and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handling the accounting function for a group of companies
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Completion of information processes and reports
  • Preparing and managing reconciliations of bank accounts, ledger accounts, and intercompany balances
  • Reviewing and approving supplier recons
  • Overseeing cash drawdowns requests and the reporting of cashflows to internal stakeholders
  • Coordinating and facilitating timeous payments to suppliers
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Finalizing month end and year-end closing processes
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
  • Preparing reports and supporting schedules for external and internal audits
  • Supervising junior accounting staff and providing guidance and training as needed
  • Improving systems and procedures and initiating corrective actions
  • Managing fixed assets register and depreciation calculations
  • Assisting in implementing financial controls and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience
  • Commercial experience in Fishing, Food-Manufacturing, FMCG sector (advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations (IFRS or IFRS for SMEs)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Navision, Oracle)
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Qualifications

BCom Accounting (or Similar), ACMA, CGMA, AGA(SA), PA(SA) OR ACCA
