The Role: Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

We are seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to architect, implement, and support the robust networks that are the backbone of our client’s autonomous applications. This is a hands-on role with a strategic impact.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Network Design & Implementation: Designing and deploying reliable networks for autonomous applications in challenging environments like mines and construction sites. This includes:
  • Wired networks (e.g., Cisco, Ubiquiti)
  • Private Wireless / 5G / LTE networks (e.g., Nokia NDAC, Celona)
  • User Equipment configuration and support (e.g., custom hardware, OpenWrt)
• Network Management & Support: Taking ownership of network support according to strict SLAs. This involves developing processes for 1st and 2nd level support, providing 3rd level support escalation, and liaising with the support desk to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Automation & Reporting: Developing automated tools and reports for network status, health, and performance monitoring.
• Collaboration & Optimization: Working closely with RF Engineers to plan and optimize network coverage and performance.
• Customer Engagement: Attending regular meetings with customers and technology partners to ensure alignment and address technical requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

• Essential: A relevant network certification (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent) and/or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Essential: 5+ years of professional networking experience.
• Essential: Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise-grade wired and wireless networks.
• Essential: Hands-on experience with hardware from vendors like Cisco, Ubiquiti (UBNT), Nokia, or Celona.
• Highly Advantageous: Experience with Private 5G/LTE networks, OpenWrt, and network automation scripting (Python, Ansible).
• Essential: Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to network management and support.
• Essential: Outstanding communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, customers, and partners.
