About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our luxury hospitality team in Cape Town. As a key member of the kitchen brigade, you will support and lead daily operations under the guidance of the Executive Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic culinary professional to step into a leadership role within a world-class hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
- Drive consistency in food quality, presentation, and service standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop the kitchen brigade
- Oversee menu planning and recipe development aligned with market trends and guest preferences
- Implement and maintain standardised recipes and operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and brand standards
- Manage stock, cost control, and operational efficiencies
Requirements
- Recognised Culinary Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role within a luxury environment
- Five-star hotel experience advantageous
- Proven staff management and kitchen leadership experience
- Strong planning, delegation, and organisational skills
- Solid understanding of IR practices and disciplinary procedures
- Strong administrative capability (rostering, payroll input, stock control, ordering, training)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email)
