About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and driven Junior Sous Chef for a contemporary fine-dining restaurant based in Cape Town’s City Bowl. This stylish and fast-paced restaurant is known for its modern approach to dining, beautifully executed dishes, strong focus on quality ingredients, and exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with the daily running of the kitchen
- Ensure smooth and efficient service during busy service periods
- Prepare and present dishes to consistently high standards
- Oversee specific kitchen sections and support junior chefs when required
- Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control
- Assist with mise en place, menu execution, and daily prep requirements
- Monitor stock levels, rotation, and minimise unnecessary wastage
- Support kitchen ordering, stock control, and food cost management
- Ensure compliance with all hygiene, health, and safety standards
- Assist with training and mentoring junior members of the kitchen brigade
Requirements
Previous experience in a Junior Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie role within a fine-dining restaurant or high-end kitchen environment. Strong culinary skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure. Passion for food, creativity, and modern dining trends. Good leadership ability with a hands-on and positive approach. Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety procedures.
Salary & Benefits
Approximately R20 000 (negotiable depending on experience)
