Johannesburg: Product Owner

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Define and maintain a clear product vision aligned with business goals, market trends, and customer needs Identify new opportunities through market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback Own and prioritise the product backlog in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban) Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales Drive end-to-end product delivery from concept through to launch and iteration Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, validate ideas, and ensure alignment with the strategy Champion a strong customer-centric approach to product development Foster innovation and an entrepreneurial mindset within the product team Define, track, and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success Continuously improve product performance through data-driven decision-making Ensure effective communication of the product vision and progress across all stakeholders Requirements: 3 years experience in a Product Owner or similar product management role Proven track record of delivering software products in a fast-paced environment Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or similar) Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle Ability to engage with technical teams and understand system architecture at a high level Experience working closely with engineering teams in a software development environment Technical & Professional Skills: Strong understanding of Agile product development methodologies Experience with Jira and Confluence (essential) Familiarity with UX/UI principles and wireframing tools, such as Figma (advantageous) Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform product decisions Ability to translate business requirements into clear product features and user stories Solid stakeholder management and communication skills Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Preferred Qualifications: Product Owner certification (Scrum.org or equivalent) Experience in start-ups or high-growth environments MBA or similar business qualification (advantageous) Exposure to continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) environments Experience working in innovation-driven or entrepreneurial teams Key Competencies: Strong entrepreneurial mindset and ownership mentality Innovative and solution-oriented thinker Excellent leadership and collaboration skills Strong customer empathy and user-focused mindset High attention to detail and execution quality Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills This role is based fully on-site in Johannesburg East.
