About the Role

MCiSA is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of our financial operations, including cashbook processing, financial reporting, and internal control processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with General Office Management, particularly the accounting department
  • Process cashbook transactions timeously and accurately
  • Prepare and submit financial reports, including monthly accounts and audit files
  • Apply principles of accounting to prepare and analyse financial information
  • Prepare financial statements, budgets, and financial forecasts
  • Manage tax and statutory affairs for various companies
  • Record transactional data on Pastel, process journal entries, and compile general ledger
  • Allocate and process bank statement transactions and perform reconciliations of bank accounts
  • Ensure ongoing backups are performed of various systems
  • Implement and ensure adherence to internal control processes
  • Prepare month-end management accounts within internal deadlines
  • Maintain and manage the fixed assets register
  • Monitor performance and identify irregularities or concerns

Requirements

  • A tertiary accounting degree qualification (minimum)
  • At least 5 years working experience at an Accountant or Senior Accountant level
  • Proficient in use of Sage &/or Xero Accounting packages
  • Proficiency in Caseware or Draftworx or any other financial statement compilation/generation software (advantageous)
  • Proficient in MS office
  • Experience in VIP Payroll or other established payroll software solution (advantageous)
  • Knowledgeable on basic Human Resource Administration matters and related regulatory frameworks (advantageous)

Qualifications

  • Having a complementing post graduate qualification will be an advantage
  • Being registered with a recognised accounting body will be an advantage
