About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Boiler Engineer to join our client in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various industrial boilers within their facility. The Boiler Engineer will ensure that all boilers are operating at optimal efficiency, comply with safety regulations, and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain boilers according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Conduct regular inspections of boilers and related equipment to identify and troubleshoot any issues
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, calibrating, and replacing parts as needed
  • Monitor and adjust boiler controls to maintain proper temperature and pressure levels
  • Respond to emergency repair requests and resolve mechanical or electrical malfunctions quickly and efficiently
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities
  • Coordinate with other maintenance and engineering staff to schedule downtime for maintenance, repairs, or upgrades
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to boiler operations

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Trade tested Boilermaker advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with industrial boilers
  • Strong knowledge of boiler operation, maintenance, and repair techniques within the food/fmcg industry
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to boiler operation

Qualifications

  • Valid boiler operator license or certification preferred (if applicable)
