Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full customs clearing process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient turnaround times. This is a critical role within the business, requiring strong technical knowledge and the ability to handle multiple shipments across various cargo types.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle full import and export customs clearing processes
  • Prepare and submit accurate customs entries within required timelines
  • Ensure correct tariff classification, valuation, and supporting documentation
  • Manage the clearance process from receipt of documents through to final release
  • Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters, and customs authorities
  • Resolve customs queries, delays, and discrepancies efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with SARS customs regulations and procedures
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide updates to clients
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in customs clearing
  • Proven experience handling both import and export clearances end-to-end
  • Strong knowledge of SARS customs processes and documentation
  • Experience working within a freight forwarding or clearing environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy clearing desk
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
