About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in Durban, providing technical support and service to customers through regular on-site visits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering, with experience working with industrial power tools and software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical service and support to customers through regular on-site visits, including repairs and tool calibrations.
- Perform repairs and field service support on industrial power tooling and associated equipment.
- Deliver technical support during breakdowns, both telephonically and on-site when required.
- Conduct calibrations and preventative maintenance in line with laboratory standards and ISO procedures.
- Plan, manage, and carry out the installation and commissioning of equipment at customer premises.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities, repairs, and calibrations.
- Compile and submit detailed service reports on repairs, breakdowns, and incidents.
- Provide customers with technical advice and feedback on equipment usage and performance.
- Ensure all workshop and field service documentation is completed accurately and kept up to date.
- Work closely with the sales department to support customer requirements and service delivery.
- Program and configure tightening systems and tool controllers.
- Support integration of tools with production line software and digital systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues within connected manufacturing environments.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence (essential)
- 2+ years minimum working experience
- Engineering Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (essential)
- Proven experience in a Field Service Technician or similar technical role
