About the Role

Network Finance is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the design, planning, and management of civil engineering projects in Durban North. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and compliant design solutions while managing project budgets, timelines, resources, and risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, and management of civil engineering projects, including roads, stormwater, earthworks, water reticulation, and sewer infrastructure
  • Take full technical ownership of projects, ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and compliant design solutions
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, resources, and risk
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, tender documentation, and contractual deliverables
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and technologists
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across all project phases

Requirements

  • Qualification: BSc Eng, BEng, or BTech in Civil Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years’ postgraduate civil engineering experience
  • Professional Registration:
  • Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
  • Minimum 5 years’ postprofessional registration experience
  • Technical Capability: Proficient in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Prokon, or similar
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally as project requirements dictate (company-covered)
  • Licence: Valid South African driver’s licence
