About the Role

The Intern Safety Officer will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health and safety systems across the company’s operations, including trailer rental yards, manufacturing activities, construction sites, and consulting projects. The role provides practical exposure to occupational health and safety compliance, risk management, and site-based safety practices under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems across all operations.
  • Support the development and updating of risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety audits at rental yards, workshops, and construction sites.
  • Identify hazards and unsafe conditions, and report findings with recommended corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
  • Assist with incident and accident investigations, including compiling reports.
  • Support toolbox talks, safety inductions, and awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols by staff and contractors.
  • Maintain safety records, registers, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in preparing HSE files for projects and clients.
  • Support emergency preparedness, including drills and response procedures.
  • Liaise with supervisors, employees, and clients on safety-related matters.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Health and Safety function.

  • National Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent
