About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Bakery Manager to join our team in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily bakery operations and leading a team of deli staff to deliver exceptional customer service and drive sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily bakery operations, including food preparation, presentation, merchandising, and service.
- Supervise, train, and motivate deli team to maintain productivity, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage inventory: order supplies, receive and stock deliveries, rotate stock, control waste and shrink.
- Ensure accurate pricing, labelling, clean presentation, and adherence to company merchandising guidelines.
- Resolve customer inquiries and complaints efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary work environment following food safety standards.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Bakery, Butchery, Produce) to drive cross-selling and meet overall store sales goals.
- Occasionally perform hands-on tasks such as slicing, packaging, or assisting with production during busy periods.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 / Matric qualification or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in a deli or food service environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with inventory systems, POS terminals, MS Office and basic stock management tools
