Job Description

This role requires the employee to report for duty promptly at 06H30 from Monday to Friday and at 07H00 when scheduled to work on Saturdays, while ensuring clock-in procedures are followed at all times. The successful candidate will report directly to the Supervisor before entering the sorting area to fine-sort cargo allocated to the assigned route and immediately communicate any shipment concerns or potential issues. Key Responsibilities Report for work promptly at 06H30 every morning from Monday to Friday. When on duty on a Saturday, you are required to report for work at 07H00. Clock in at all times. Report immediately to your Supervisor and wait for authorization to enter and fine-sort the cargo for your route. Advise your Supervisor immediately if there are any potential problems with any shipment. Ensure that the cargo is palletized and moved to the designated cage for scanning by the Supervisor. Wait for your cargo outside the cage while the Supervisor scans all cargo allocated to your route. Ensure that your cargo matches the Delivery Run Sheet. Proceed with deliveries according to required service levels and operational standards. Advise your Supervisor immediately if any problems are experienced with deliveries, such as incorrect addresses, unavailable recipients, or missing contact persons. Maintain communication with your Supervisor every 1520 minutes while on the road. Ensure consignments are delivered to the correct recipient at all times and carefully read each waybill for any special instructions, which override the selected or marked service type. Ensure all dawn deliveries are completed before 09H00 and communicate the POD to your Supervisor immediately thereafter. Ensure every POD is completed correctly with a printed name, time, date, and signature. The client must also complete the Delivery Run Sheet. Ensure all PODs are attached to the Delivery Run Sheet in the correct order and returned to your Supervisor upon return to base. Before leaving the base to complete the secondary delivery run, ensure that all General Cargo and Economy Cargo for your delivery area has been scanned out correctly and verified according to operational procedures. Collect the Collection Sheet from your Supervisor before leaving the base. Ensure all collections are completed before the stipulated closing times indicated on collection requests. If any problems arise, notify your Supervisor timeously. Before returning to base, confirm all collections with your Supervisor and obtain permission before leaving your designated area. Ensure all cargo collected from clients is accompanied by a completed waybill. Verify that clients complete all required sections on the documentation and ensure sufficient stationery is available at all times, including waybills, flyers, and labels. Upon returning to base, ensure all collected cargo is correctly weighed and measured according to operational requirements. Hand over all collected cargo to your Supervisor for scanning and processing. Once all cargo has been scanned in and all afternoon PODs have been handed to your Supervisor, ensure the vehicle is properly parked and secured. Vehicle keys must then be handed to the Supervisor before clocking out. Minimum Requirements Matric (Grade 12) Valid Code 08 Drivers Licence and a valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP) Minimum 1 years experience within the logistics industry Good local knowledge of surrounding areas and neighbourhoods Physically capable of performing manual handling duties, including lifting, carrying, and loading parcels Ability to handle parcels up to 2025 kg in accordance with health and safety guidelines, with assistance or equipment provided where required Skills Written and verbal communication skills Planning and organising skills Time management Strong interpersonal skills Attention to detail Competencies Verbal communication Teamwork Adaptability
