Ekurhuleni: Mechanical Draughtsman

Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Relevant Mechanical Draughting, Mechanical Design, or equivalent technical qualification. 510 years’ mechanical draughting experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, or workshop environment. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor . Proven ability to create and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D models. Solid understanding of manufacturing methods , mechanical engineering principles, fabrication processes, tolerances and material specifications. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and sketches. Experience producing manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings and bills of materials. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to prioritise work, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Key Responsibilities Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical components, assemblies, frames, sheet metal items and related manufacturing requirements. Perform reverse engineering using existing components, site measurements, sample parts and workshop feedback. Produce manufacturing drawings, general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, cutting lists and bills of materials (BOMs) . Collaborate with engineers, project managers, workshop teams and production staff to ensure designs are practical and ready for manufacture. Revise and maintain technical drawings in line with design modifications, project requirements and manufacturing feedback. Assist with design improvements and provide practical solutions to improve manufacturability, efficiency and product quality. Interpret client drawings, sketches, specifications and technical documentation, converting them into production-ready drawings . Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, tolerances, materials and compliance with company standards before release. Maintain drawing registers, revision histories and technical documentation . Provide technical support to procurement, costing and production teams where required. Advantageous Experience Sheet metal design and detailing. Autodesk Inventor Frame Generator. Reverse engineering and site measurement experience. Knowledge of laser cutting, bending, machining, welding, fabrication and assembly processes. Experience within heavy engineering, mining, manufacturing, or related industrial sectors.
