Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Pricing & Cost Estimation
- Prepare accurate and competitive rates and quotations across air, ocean, road, warehousing and 3PL solutions
- Analyse cost structures, carrier tariffs, surcharges, seasonal fluctuations and fuel movements
- Develop detailed pricing models aligned to internal margin requirements
- Respond to urgent rate requests with speed, accuracy and commercial awareness
2. Global & Local Tender Management
- Lead pricing submissions for global and local RFQs, RFPs and tenders
- Coordinate cross-functionally with sales, operations and procurement teams
- Ensure all tender documentation is complete, accurate and professionally presented
- Track tender timelines, clarifications and post-submission follow-ups
3. Carrier & Supplier Relationship Management
- Maintain strong working relationships with airlines, shipping lines and transport providers
- Negotiate preferential rates, space allocations and seasonal incentives
- Monitor carrier performance, reliability and schedule changes
- Continuously optimize rate agreements in collaboration with procurement
4. Market Intelligence & Commercial Analysis
- Monitor freight market trends, capacity constraints and surcharge movements
- Analyse competitor pricing behaviours and identify strategic opportunities
- Provide pricing insight and advisory support to sales and executive management
- Produce monthly pricing analysis and forecasting reports
5. Data Integrity & Process Optimisation
- Maintain accurate CRM and pricing database updates
- Manage rate sheets, tariffs and historical pricing records
- Implement structured checklists to eliminate pricing errors
- Develop and standardize pricing SOPs
6. Strategic Collaboration
- Partner closely with Sales to understand customer commercial objectives
- Provide strategic pricing advisory on high-value opportunities
- Support contract logistics and solution design with cost modelling
- Assist with onboarding large accounts including contractual breakdowns
Minimum Requirements
- 7–10 years’ experience in logistics pricing, procurement or commercial freight environment
- Proven experience managing global and multinational tender pricing
- Strong relationships with major airlines, shipping lines and transport providers
- In-depth knowledge of South African and global freight markets
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, modelling, lookups, formulas)
- Experience across air freight, ocean freight (FCL & LCL), road freight, warehousing and 3PL
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and high-pressure tender cycles
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
