About the Role
RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established civil construction contractor in Durban, is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join their commercial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders for a range of civil engineering construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for civil construction works
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Develop accurate Bills of Quantities and cost breakdowns
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, and suppliers during the tender process
- Identify risks, cost implications, and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure competitiveness and accuracy of all tender submissions
- Maintain and update cost databases and pricing models
Requirements
Minimum 10 years experience as a Civil Estimator in construction contracts
Strong experience in civil works (roads, earthworks, infrastructure, and general civils)
Proficiency in CCS Candy software essential
Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and market-related pricing
Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight tender deadlines
Strong communication and negotiation skills
