About the Role

Helderberg Personnel is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating electrical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and providing excellent client liaison services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate electrical designs from concept through to implementation.
  • Prepare scopes of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documentation.
  • Liaise with clients to determine design requirements and ensure project satisfaction.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Compile detailed engineering information and data packs for manufacturing and software engineering teams.
  • Review and improve designs to ensure cost-effective and efficient project execution.
  • Mentor and support CAD Operators and Engineers-in-Training.
  • Participate in project scoping, tendering, contract preparation, and project implementation.

  • Degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent NQF qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Registration (Pr. Eng.) will be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Strong understanding of international electrical and instrumentation specifications and standards.
  • Sound knowledge of SANS standards.
  • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Technical product knowledge within electrical engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and client liaison abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
