About the Role
As a Junior Accountant at Smith Garb, you will be part of our dynamic finance team, contributing to the maintenance of accurate financial records and processes. You will have the opportunity to grow within a supportive environment, working across multiple branches and reporting structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining detailed General Ledger (GL) records and processing journals up to Trial Balance
- Managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Book processes
- Processing ad hoc invoices
- Overseeing cash book processes and resolving related queries
- Managing Fixed Asset Register (FAR) and CAPEX processes
- Performing monthly VAT reconciliations
- Preparing daily sales reports
- Conducting financial analysis and providing commentary on variances
- Assisting internal and external auditors with required information
- Preparing budgets for allocated branches
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Assisting with ad hoc reporting and finance-related duties
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCom Degree in Accounting
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Syspro (advantageous)
