Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide full operational leadership of the manufacturing facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and cost efficiencies are achieved.
- Oversee plant maintenance strategies to ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability.
- Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including legal appointments.
- Act as a legally appointed Section 16.2 in terms of OHS legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned to lean manufacturing and operational best practice.
- Manage operational budgets, capital expenditure, and resource allocation.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure SHEQ compliance and promote a strong safety culture throughout the operation.
- Collaborate with executive management to align operational strategy with overall business objectives.
- Oversee risk management, audits, and statutory inspections.
Minimum Requirements:
- BEng Mechanical Engineering or BSc Mechanical Engineering (non-negotiable).
- GCC (Factories) essential OR proven experience appointed as a Section 16.2 in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- At least 5 years in a senior operations or plant leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of plant engineering, asset management, and production planning.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and driving operational performance.
- Sound understanding of statutory compliance, risk management, and engineering governance.
