Job Description
What you will be doing:
- Lead and manage the non-life reinsurance division, including reinsurance accounting and claims support functions
- Drive the delivery of optimised reinsurance solutions aligned to business and client strategies
- Structure and implement reinsurance programmes for cell captive clients
- Negotiate renewals and new business with reinsurers and brokers
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of reinsurance contracts
- Collate underwriting data and compile risk profiles and CRESTA aggregates
- Produce quarterly portfolio performance reports, including claims analysis, pricing methodologies, and underwriting insights
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, reinsurers, and brokers
- Conduct regular stakeholder engagements to ensure effective communication and reporting
- Monitor developments in the reinsurance market and assess impacts on partner security and business strategy
- Contribute to statutory reporting, regulatory input, and audit requirements
- Ensure adherence to reinsurance guidelines, governance, and compliance frameworks
- Produce monthly management reports and monitor key risk indicators
- Support business growth by enhancing internal reinsurance capability and reducing reliance on external providers
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams where required
- Play a key succession role, being developed to take over as Head of Reinsurance within the next 3 years
What we are looking for:
- Relevant degree and insurance qualification
- FAIS compliant
- 10+ years’ experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry
- Experience in the cell captive environment is advantageous
- Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, UMAs, and general insurance sectors
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and solution-driven mindset
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and perform under pressure
- High attention to detail and strong governance mindset
