About the Role
Our client is seeking a Junior BI Consultant to join their Business Intelligence team in Johannesburg. This role is designed for early-career professionals with solid SQL fundamentals who want hands-on experience with real reporting and data analysis work.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing, testing, and optimizing SQL queries for reporting and analysis
- Extracting and manipulating data from SQL Server databases
- Assisting with report development using Excel, SSRS, and/or Power BI
- Performing data validation, checks, and basic reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving reporting or data issues
- Clearly documenting queries and reporting logic
- Supporting internal teams with data-related questions
Requirements
- Minimum 13 years experience in a SQL, reporting, or data-related role (or a strong academic background with practical SQL exposure)
- Solid working knowledge of SQL (joins, grouping, subqueries, aggregations)
- Understanding of relational databases
- Strong Excel skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
- Logical thinker with strong attention to detail
- Professional, reliable, and comfortable following structured processes
Qualifications
Relevant degree or diploma beneficial but not mandatory. Practical SQL ability is prioritized.
