About the Role
A dynamic opportunity exists for a detail-oriented and organised Financial Assistant to join the finance team within a leading convenience retail environment. The successful candidate will support daily financial operations, supplier account management, reconciliations, reporting, and audit processes while ensuring high levels of accuracy and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions
- Prepare balance sheets and financial reports
- Track and reconcile bank statements
- Create fixed and variable cost analysis reports
- Process tax payments and support payroll administration
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Process invoices and follow up with clients, suppliers, and partners where required
- Provide administrative support during budgeting processes
- Participate in quarterly and annual audits
- Manage internal and external supplier queries efficiently
- Maintain excellent supplier service through accurate administration and prompt query resolution
- Assess blocked accounts relating to terms, limits, and liquor licences, and engage suppliers immediately
- Prepare and understand creditors reconciliations
- Allocate payments accurately using remittances
- Distribute remittances monthly
- Apply accounting principles in routine financial activities
- Assist with journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Ensure accuracy of calculations and data entries
- Maintain organised financial records and documentation
Requirements
- BCom Accounting Degree
- 3 – 5 years experience in Finance/Accounting
- Previous experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer, or similar role
- Good understanding of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including financial functions and spreadsheet management
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Pastel Evolution
