About the Role
Join Network Finance as a Database Administrator in our Johannesburg North office, where you will be part of a mature Enterprise IT function responsible for managing mission-critical database environments across cloud and on-prem infrastructure. You will work closely with development teams to ensure optimal system performance, security, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments
- Monitor and optimise database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks
- Implement backup, recovery, and security processes to ensure data integrity
- Support development, testing, and production environments across the business
- Design and implement high-availability and replication solutions (Data Guard, GoldenGate)
- Collaborate with development teams to optimise queries and database interactions
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and automation
Requirements
- 5–7 years’ experience in database administration within enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle (12c/19c) and Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong expertise in database performance tuning and optimisation
- Experience with replication, clustering, and HA solutions (Data Guard, GoldenGate)
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data modelling
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and enterprise storage (SAN)
- Exposure to cloud database environments (AWS / Azure)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues under pressure
- Strong focus on data integrity, security, and system reliability
- Ability to work across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
