About the Role
Hire Resolve is seeking a qualified and experienced Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with expertise in Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects to join our team as a Project Developer and Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and management of IPP projects in Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of IPP projects from concept stage through to financial close and construction
- Manage all aspects of project development, including feasibility studies, permitting, grid connection, off-take agreements, financial modeling, and stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
- Oversee project budget, schedule, and quality control
- Monitor project progress and performance, and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering design, procurement, and construction activities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry players, government agencies, and financial institutions
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and proposals for internal and external audiences
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- BTech in Electrical Engineering
- 1 – 3 Years design experience in a work environment
- Minimum of 3 years in management position
- Experience in Renewables
- Microgrid experience required
- Project development experience required
- Must be registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr. Eng)
- Required Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to produce designs using CAD software (AutoCAD and Microgrids)
- Be able to design solar plants using Helioscope or similar PV design systems
- Ability to prepare and manage project budgets and cash flow
- Produce detailed quotes and BoQ with detail
- Familiar with Eskom standards and processes
- Experience in HV, MV and LV installations
- Strong negotiating skills
- Procure equipment
- Manage implementation of small and utility-scale projects
- Ability to develop Utility Scale projects
- Knowledge of South African Engineering standards
- Must understand the OHS Act
- Strong leadership skills
- Must have own vehicle and drivers license
- Willing to travel
- Willing to be away from home for extended periods of time for projects
- Good problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Formal Education)
- BTech in Electrical Engineering (Formal Education)
