About the Role
A leading industrial manufacturing company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join their team. The successful incumbent will play a critical role in supporting the execution of procurement strategy, driving compliance, and ensuring the maintenance of rolling stock and wayside infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support execution of procurement strategy for the maintenance of rolling stock and wayside infrastructure.
- Domain financial performance (cost control, product continuous improvement focus).
- Drive compliance for processes to the team, APSYS, continuous improvement.
- Supplier performance management for overall project activities.
- Bring expertise to the procurement team, align procurement strategies to the service operations and ensure limited impact on the customer.
- Manage supplier QCDED performance with interfaces in quality, supply chain, economic development.
- Facilitate resolution of major issues through escalation processes.
- Secure purchase order placement on time, escalations aligned to the contract, and a proactive approach to obsolescence.
- Capability of sharing and developing others.
- Act as a mentor and coach through direct reports.
- Manage local buyers in close link with central procurement.
- Team cohesion and ability to work with peers.
- Process-driven approach to people management.
- Capacity to define action plans for team development.
Requirements
- Degree – commercial preferred (technical/industrial may be considered).
- 5 years experience in Procurement.
- Experience in managing small teams.
- Strong negotiation skills (contracts with suppliers).
- Communication skills.
- Ensure team compliance with the code of ethics.
