Job Description
- To support the decking division with technical sales assistance, customer engagement, slab layout advice, production planning, and occasional site measurements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical Sales & Customer Support
- Assist with walk-in, telephonic, and email customers with product selection and quotations.
- Provide technical guidance regarding lintels, rib & block slabs, and related structural product
- Prepare and follow up on quotations
- Build and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, and retail clients
- Assist with order processing and customer communication
2. Technical & Design Support
- Assist with slab layout drawings and quantity calculations
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Provide basic technical advice on slab systems and installation requirements
- Collaborate closely with the Division Manager on project planning and technical queries
3. Production & Order Coordination
- Assist with production planning and scheduling
- Liaise with factory and installation teams regarding order specifications
- Ensure technical accuracy of orders before production
- Monitor order progress and communicate timelines to customers
4. External Customer & Site Support
- Conduct occasional site visits to measure slab areas, verify installation requirements, and support customers with technical advice
- Assist with problem-solving on active projects where required
5. Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation
- Assist with pricing updates and product data management
- Support sales reporting and pipeline tracking
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Building / Construction Technology, Draughting, or relevant technical certificate or diploma
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years in construction, technical sales, or related industry
- Exposure to concrete products, slab systems, or structural components (advantageous)
- Experience reading construction drawings
- Experience dealing with contractors or customers
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret building plans
- Basic slab or structural layout understanding
- Strong numeracy and quantity calculation ability
- Computer literate (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Experience with CAD or slab design software (advantageous)
