About the Role
The Site Manager – Drill & Blasting position at Bridge Personnel Concepts requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage the day-to-day operations of drilling and blasting on site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with mine planning, maintaining workplace safety, and leading a team of drilling and blasting personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and handle day-to-day operations of the drilling and blasting on site
- Conduct daily compliance inspections on drill and blast blocks
- Implement and manage drill and blast blocks as per mine planning
- Monitor and ensure quality control in drilling and blasting, assessing blast outcomes, fragmentation, and environmental impact
- Prepare regular weekly and monthly reports
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of drilling and blasting personnel fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety
- Assist the PM Department with recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and all records are in order
- Be willing to travel to other sites and operations
- Establish sound relationships with all stakeholders
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Blasting/Mining or Civil Engineering
- DMRE Opencast Blasting Ticket
- MQA Surface Rock Breaking Certificate (01/07/2009 to 31/05/2017)
- Minimum of 5-7 years drilling and blasting within the mining industry
- Minimum of 2 years experience in managing drill and blasting teams, 40+ employees on shift system
- Basic knowledge of Drill Rigs, specifically Sandvik Di550 and Di650
- Experience with the use of electronic and pyrotechnic initiation systems
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Planning and detailed execution of plans
- Safety-driven, effective multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Blast map III Blasting Software
