About the Role
Profile Personnel is seeking an energetic and analytically minded Foundry Optimisation Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing the company’s products and processes to achieve World Class manufacturing standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and report foundry related scrap, rework, and first time pass rates against set targets in each department.
- Utilize resources effectively and efficiently to reduce energy consumption or explore alternative process or product utilization initiatives.
- Manage projects within the Foundry and Service Departments, gathering information, liaising with Contractors, setting up timelines, costing, and responsibilities.
- Conduct laboratory investigations into material failures or defect analysis due to process faults, compiling investigation reports detailing possible cause, solution, and implementation of corrective actions and controls.
- Develop and sustain a mould library, including exploded models, general assemblies, individual cores, and full cooling assemblies, with detailed manufacturing drawings and parts lists.
Requirements
- Tertiary education in Mechanical and/or Metallurgical Engineering or an applicable qualification is essential.
- Design experience and proficiency using MS projects, AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous.
- Design exposure or experience with regards to 3D conceptualization and surface modeling using Magma software will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma concepts and techniques.
