Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems on buses, including lighting, wiring, alternators, starters, batteries, and control systems.
Perform fault-finding using diagnostic equipment and software.
Repair or replace defective wiring, connectors, and electrical components.
Maintain, install, and test vehicle electrical systems, including CAN bus and ECM systems.
Ensure all repairs meet safety and operational standards.
Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections.
Complete job cards, maintenance records, and reports accurately.
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff when required.
Comply with all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Auto Electrician (Trade Test Certificate essential).
Minimum 5 years’ experience working on buses or heavy commercial vehicles.
Strong knowledge of modern diagnostic tools and vehicle electrical systems (CAN bus, ECM, multiplex systems, etc.).
Valid driver’s license (Code 8 or higher).
Computer literacy and familiarity with diagnostic software.
Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans (spoken and written).
