Location: Pretoria, South Africa Industry: Citrus Exports & International Freight Forwarding Employment Type: Full-Time, Senior Management Position About the Role We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development & Logistics Manager to join our team based in Pretoria. This is a dual-responsibility senior role combining: Business Development for our Durban-based Freight Forwarding & Logistics Division, focused on acquiring new clients and growing revenue; and Logistics Management Support for our Citrus Export Business, assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of export logistics and supply chain activities. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong industry relationships, extensive logistics experience, and a proven track record in both commercial growth and operational execution. Key Responsibilities Business Development Freight Forwarding Division Identify, pursue, and secure new freight forwarding and logistics clients. Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve growth targets. Build and maintain long-term relationships with importers, exporters, growers, retailers, and logistics stakeholders. Generate opportunities across sea freight, air freight, road freight, customs clearing, warehousing, and related logistics services. Prepare quotations, proposals, and service agreements. Negotiate commercial terms with prospective clients. Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and provide regular sales forecasts and reporting. Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities. Logistics Management Citrus Export Division Assist in coordinating export logistics for citrus shipments. Liaise with growers, packhouses, transporters, shipping lines, cold stores, and customers. Monitor shipment schedules and ensure timely execution of export programs. Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks. Support procurement and management of logistics service providers. Ensure compliance with export, shipping, and customer requirements. Analyse logistics performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Work closely with management to optimise supply chain efficiency and reduce costs. Candidate Requirements: Essential Minimum 8 years experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain management, exports, or a related field. Proven track record in business development and acquiring new clients. Strong understanding of international freight forwarding and logistics operations. Experience managing complex logistics and supply chain activities. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. Commercially minded with the ability to identify and convert business opportunities. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics management systems. Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel when required. Preferred Experience within the fresh produce, citrus, agricultural export, or perishable logistics sectors. Existing network within freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, or export industries.
