Hire Resolve’s client is a fast-growing edtech company focused on changing how students learn coding, robotics, and other tech subjects. Their tools are used in schools across South Africa and internationally, including in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. They combine hardware and easy-to-use software to help students build creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

As a Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer, your job is to create simple, engaging, and accessible interfaces that make learning fun and effective. Youll work with product managers, designers, developers, and educators to turn user needs into user-friendly designs.

Responsibilities: 

Conduct user research across a range of contexts, gathering insights on the needs, limitations, and behaviors of both learners and educators.
Design user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes with a strong focus on usability, accessibility, and inclusivity.
Create interfaces that are optimized for varying screen sizes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that design solutions are feasible and adaptable to real-world classroom conditions.
Develop intuitive UI elements that support different levels of tech literacy, particularly among younger learners and educators new to digital platforms.
Continuously test and iterate on designs using feedback from diverse user groups.
Develop high-quality, responsive, and accessible frontend components using modern frameworks and tools (e.g. React, Next.js, or similar)
Oversee and guide the work of junior frontend developers, ensuring code quality, adherence to design specifications, and proper use of tools and technologies.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to a high-performing, team culture
Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster a collaborative development environment.
Define and enforce frontend development standards and best practices.
Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
Ensure quality of design implementation by frontend development teams.
Uphold visual identity while promoting clarity, functionality, and engagement

Requirements: 

4-6 years of experience in:
UI/UX design
Relevant design degree/qualifications/certifications for example:
Bachelor of Experience Design or similar
A recognised UX certification from a college or university
A web focused design portfolio (app design experience is a bonus)
Frontend web development
Relevant design degree/qualifications/certifications for example:
Bachelor of Information Science or Computer Science
Strong proficiency in JavaScript frontend frameworks, preferably React JS.
Redux, Context API, or similar
Experience with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling
Familiarity with tools such as Webpack, Babel, ESLint, and Git
