About the Role
Our client is searching for a Systems Engineer with expertise in Unix/Solaris environments to join their team on a permanent contract. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining UNIX and Solaris operating systems, as well as administering and configuring Connect:Direct for file transfer. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UNIX and Solaris operating environments
- Perform regular system updates and patches to ensure security and performance
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Administer and configure Connect:Direct (formerly known as NDM) for file transfer
- Implement automation scripts to facilitate scheduled and on-demand file transfers
- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure appropriate access
- Develop and execute backup and recovery plans for critical data
- Analyse system performance metrics and make recommendations for optimisation
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in system engineering, specifically with UNIX and Solaris environments
- Connect:Direct Experience: Demonstrated experience in administering and managing Connect:Direct or similar file transfer technologies
- Proficiency in UNIX and Solaris systems
- Experience with scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Perl) for automation
Qualifications
- UNIX/Solaris Certifications: Certifications such as Solaris Certified Systems Administrator or UNIX System Administration certifications.
- Linux Certifications: Additional certifications like Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) if Linux experience is also relevant.
