A well established Tax Company is looking for a Technical Support Intern. Requirements: Minimum qualification: Completed or currently studying towards a qualification in Taxation or Law (with tax exposure) Experience: None required Strong interest in South African tax administration and SARS processes Sound understanding of basic tax principles (Income Tax and VAT advantageous) Good written communication skills and strong attention to detail Competencies Ability to work with structured information and large datasets Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft 365; familiarity with AI tools is advantageous Analytical thinking and a structured approach to problem-solving Ability to handle confidential information responsibly Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks Key Responsibilities: Tax Helpline Support Assist with helpline administration, including downloading, organising, and cleaning datasets Track allocated queries and maintain accurate records SARS Escalations Support Maintain escalation registers and support the preparation of submissions to SARS Monitor outstanding responses and assist with follow-ups or re-escalations Technical Content & Knowledge Support Assist in compiling practitioner-focused FAQs from helpline queries and engagements Support technical content development, including social media posts, polls, and webinar material Perform data de-identification to support confidentiality and data protection requirements Organise technical inputs from multiple sources into structured working material AI Knowledge Base Maintenance Assist in updating, organising, and classifying the AI knowledge base for effective retrieval Identify outdated or duplicated information Support content validation and quality control Member Engagement & Communications Support member engagement through social media and related communication channels Monitor, categorise, and organise engagement data into useful insights Regional & Stakeholder Coordination Support preparation of meeting packs and summaries Help consolidate issues raised across regions General Administrative Support Organise documents and datasets and maintain structured records for audit and reporting purposes Assist with scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics Additional Screening Criteria No criminal record Verifiable references from lecturers if no prior work experience exist. Additional Information: This division plays a critical role in: Providing technical assistance to tax practitioner members via the Tax Helpline Managing engagement with regional practitioner communities Escalating systemic and operational issues to SARS Supporting practitioner-facing communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives
