About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Support Intern to join our Technical Practitioner Support & Relations division at the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT). This 3-month fixed-term contract offers hands-on exposure to SARS processes, technical tax support, AI-assisted workflows, and professional stakeholder engagement. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to meaningful initiatives that improve member engagement and technical knowledge-sharing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Tax Helpline administration, including downloading, organising, and cleaning datasets
  • Track allocated practitioner queries and maintain accurate records
  • Maintain SARS escalation registers and assist with submissions and follow-ups
  • Support the compilation of practitioner-focused FAQs and technical content
  • Assist with webinar material, social media content, and practitioner communication initiatives
  • Perform data de-identification to support confidentiality and compliance requirements
  • Organise technical inputs into structured working documents and knowledge resources
  • Assist with maintaining and classifying AI knowledge base content
  • Identify outdated or duplicated information and support quality control initiatives
  • Support member engagement activities and monitor communication insights
  • Prepare meeting packs, summaries, and regional issue consolidation reports
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and coordinating administrative logistics

Requirements

  • Completed or currently studying towards a qualification in Taxation or Law with tax exposure
  • Strong interest in South African tax administration and SARS processes
  • Understanding of basic tax principles, including Income Tax and VAT
  • Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Good digital literacy, including Microsoft 365 proficiency
  • Familiarity with AI tools will be advantageous
  • Ability to work with structured information and large datasets
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
